Legal Skills
Research methods and skills is an essential part of being a law student. The purpose of this module is to develop the skills that are required to be able to study effectively.
The module will interlink with the other foundation law modules. It will provide the student with the knowledge and ability to utilise academic databases and journals through a series of tasks which will have direct relevance to the topics being studied in other modules.
Students will develop an in depth understanding of the English legal system and its sources of law.
Students will concentrate not only on theoretical issues but will also consider the practical applications of what is being studied. One aspect of the course will be the ability to identify and discuss current affairs and their legal implications.
Students will focus on how to analyse legal issues, considering alternative arguments and being able to present the information in an appropriate format.
