Estates & Facilities Management head to the Circus!
Back in 2019, Circus Eruption, a local charity offering children and young people of Swansea the opportunity to learn new skills in a safe space, came along to the Estates & Facilities Management, (E&FM) All Staff Conference, to teach some old dogs, some new circus tricks!
In return, E&FM offered back their technical skills to help with the transformation of Circus Eruptions new premises, St Luke’s Church.
A weeks’ worth of volunteering was being offered to Circus Eruption for any member of the 400 strong E&FM staff team. From painting, cleaning, carpentry, electrical work and even sprucing up their garden area so that Circus Eruption could open up their doors and welcome back the local children and youth members that benefit from their amazing work.
Unfortunately, the week we were supposed to start, so did the first national COVID-19 lockdown and all our well laid plans were put on hold. But, that doesn’t stop us! One of our on-site contractors, Grahams, have continued to work alongside Circus Eruption and have recently installed a new kitchen area free of charge, as part of their community support work. The plan is to get back to St Luke’s, as soon as we are able continue – so watch this space!
