All students must be nominated by their university to study at Swansea University. 

1. The Go Global team will contact nominated students directly with the application link and instructions on how to apply. You can also access the application form here.
2. To start your application, you will need your email address and chosen password.
3. An email will be sent to the email address you used to create the application. Follow the instructions in this email to confirm your email address. You cannot submit your application unless you complete this step.
4. Once you have confirmed your email address, reload the webpage to continue with your application. Or you can log out and log back into the system.
5. Complete and submit your application. 
6. Wait to receive your electronic acceptance letter.

Courses at Swansea are called modules. Browse our online module catalogue for details of all courses taught at Swansea University. To search for courses you will need to follow the steps below:

1. Select the Academic Department
2. Select the academic year
3. Click on 'List Departmental Modules'. A list of all the modules for that subject area will then be displayed.
4. Click on the individual modules to find out detailed information on each one.
5. NOTE: Some modules/courses are NOT available to Visiting & Exchange students.  Students should consult the module information carefully to check for statements such as 'Available to Visiting & Exchange students'.
6. We will provide you with a document to list your course choices on before uploading it to your application.

• Modules/classes:
  • Courses at Swansea are referred to as modules
  • Modules Equivalence: 120 Swansea University Credits = 60 ECTS credits / 30-36 US credit hours

• Credit load: 
  • Full year students must select between 100 and 120 Swansea University credits.
  • Semester students must select between 50 and 60 credits Swansea University credits.

• Semesters/Teaching blocks:
  • Modules at Swansea University are taught in Teaching Block 1 (TB1) from September to January (Semester 1), and Teaching Block 2 (TB2) from January to June (Semester 2). Modules can also be taught throughout the whole academic year (TB1+2 or YR).
  • Students spending Semester 1 at Swansea can only select modules available in TB1.
  • Students spending Semester 2 at Swansea can only select modules available in TB2.
  • Only students spending the full year can select TB1 and TB2 modules.

• Module selection:
  • Modules can be found on our Online Catalogue
  • Students are advised to select Year 1 (HE level 4) or Year 2 (HE level 5) modules. With the discretion of the academic department, it may be possible to select Year 3 (HE level 6) if students have a sound background in that subject area.
  • It is at the discretion of the academic department if Undergraduate can pursue level M modules (Master Level).
  • Postgraduate exchange students entering Swansea University are allowed to select up to one semester worth of Master Level (M) modules/courses.
  • Some modules/courses are NOT available to Visiting & Exchange students. Students should consult the module information carefully to check for statements such as ‘Not Available to Visiting & Exchange students’.
  • Students should check with their home university Study Abroad Office for full details of how Swansea credits will be transferred.

• Upon your arrival:
  • Acceptance does not guarantee your provisional module selection. Due to timetabling, module capacity and other restrictions it is not possible to confirm final module selections until students arrive and enrol at Swansea University.
  • There is a two-week “Add/Drop” period at the beginning of each semester to change and/or confirm module selections. No changes can be made after this two-week period.
  • Your List of Courses form which you submitted in your application, will be sent to the academic departments for approval. Should there be any issues with your selected modules, the academic department will contact you directly to discuss alternatives.
  • Learning And Teaching Arrangements:
  • Details of Swansea University’s learning & teaching arrangements can be seen on the University's Coronavirus Recovery Guidance in the Learning & Teaching section. The expectation is for all teaching to be on campus, as of September 2022.

When selecting modules/courses students must pay attention to the method of assessment. Some are assessed by essay, others by examinations.

• Semester 1 (TB1) Some modules have examinations in January and students are required to be present in Swansea for these. Some modules require the submission of coursework. It is the responsibility of students to check the method of assessment before selecting their modules.
• Students not planning to be in Swansea for the January assessment period need to select modules assessed by coursework and class tests rather than by examination in January.
• Semester 2 (TB2) All examinations take place in May/June.In normal circumstances, students are required to be present at all set examinations and should NOT arrange return flights home until their final examination timetable is confirmed by the Examination Office at Swansea University. These timetables are published in in early April for May/June examinations.

Please note that Swansea University will not:

• proctor examinations for students.
• allow students to sit Swansea examinations at their home universities.

Students coming to Swansea for one semester
Students are not entitled to free health care during their time in the UK and will need to secure private medical insurance for the length of their stay. Click here for more information.

Students coming to Swansea for the full academic year
Students will need a Student Route visa and will be required to pay an Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) as part of their visa application. Paying this charge as part of their application will mean that they are entitled to receive free health services from the National Health Service (NHS) while they are in the UK. Click here for more information.

Undergraduate Visiting students

• Full Year (for 120 credits): £16,000.
• Semester (for 60 credits): £8,000.
• Discounts on the above fees are available for partners with whom we have signed agreements.
• No tuition fee for exchange students.

Swansea University issues academic transcripts twice a year, after the Examination Boards have confirmed marks.
