About

Zubeyde obtained a Biology BSc and teaching BSc from Firat University (Turkey) and an MRes in Histology and Embryology at Akdeniz University (Turkey).  Zubeyde is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and lectures in anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology at the School of Health and Social Care at Swansea University. She makes a significant contribution to teaching different programs and modules the College of Human and Health Science. Her specialist subjects include Nervous system, digestion, blood, muscle, bone, cell biology.  

She gained her PhD in Neuroscience at Cardiff University.  Her PhD focused on longitudinal characterisation of the emergence of cellular and subcellular pathology in novel genetic animal models of Huntington’s disease (HD). Following her PhD, she worked at The Cardiff University Brain Repair Group as a Research Associate for 4 years continuing her research in HD and presented her findings at many national and International conferences. Her research focuses on exploring neuroanotomical changes within Huntington's disease. Prior to joining Swansea University, She taught Anatomy at Southampton University Medical School in number of modules covering, Foundation of Medicine, Cardiovascular, Respirator, Renal, Nerves and Locomotor (NLM1) and Student Selective Unit (SSU). Zubeyde is a trained Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) ambassador and delivers interactive sessions on Anatomy and Neuroscience at public engagement and outreach events. She was nominated for a Chwarae Teg Women in 2017 and is a member of a variety of organisations including the Anatomical Society, the physiological Society and the British Neuroscience Association.
