Before joining Swansea, Simon was a Lecturer in Aston University and Research Assistant Professor at Northwestern University in Chicago in the United States. He is also currently Adjunct Assistant Professor at Northwestern. He completed his PhD in Sociology and Social Policy at Cardiff University, and has also held teaching or research positions at the University of Bath and the University of Cambridge.
Simon’s research focuses on (1) the critical analysis of corporate ethics and corporate harm and (2) racial, ethnic and gender inequalities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers. He aims to produce research that is of interest to a variety of non-academic audiences as well as to the public more broadly. He has worked with a number of charities and NGOs and his research has been discussed in a number of media outlets including The Times, The BBC and Science Magazine.
