My area of expertise are dementia and cognitive psychology. I am primarily interested in mitigating the impact of cognitive decline as a result of pathology and aging and enhancing cognition in healthy adults. Currently my research has focused on the role of cognitive reserve, and beneficial effects of behavioural factors such as bilingualism.

As head of Welsh provision in the Psychology department, I am involved in the development and dissemination of learning materials in Welsh, ensuring that all Welsh speaking students have the opportunity to engage with their degree in the language they feel most comfortable. Additionally, I am the director of communications for the Swansea University Dementia Research Group. These roles facilitate my efforts to lower the barriers to entry for higher education and build bridges between academia and the wider community.

As head of the Welsh provision program at Swansea University my main focus is in the development of bilingual materials and lectures. This is to support students to continue their education using the language in which they are most comfortable. I am primarily interested in modules involving statistics and research methods ensuring that students have a strong understanding of the core fundamentals of psychological study.

PM-344 Capstone Project

The aim of this module is to provide a capstone experience to students¿ learning, through participating in their own enquiry-based research project. The project may be laboratory or non-laboratory based, but it will always involve a research question that is drawn from the literature, and focused on a topic relevant to the life sciences. It will ask a novel research question and involve the critical analysis of research findings. Students will refine their oral and written communication skills to a graduate level through creating an introductory presentation on the project background, and a written dissertation and oral presentation on their research conclusions.

Bydd y modiwl hwn yn cyflwyno myfyrwyr Seicoleg i gysyniadau sylfaenol mewn ystadegau a dulliau ymchwil. Caiff myfyrwyr eu cyflwyno i egwyddorion moesegol Cymdeithas Seicolegol Prydain, gan archwilio moeseg mewn ymchwil trwy astudio astudiaethau achos hanesyddol o ymchwil broblemus. Bydd y modiwl hwn yn ymdrin â dyluniadau ymchwil arbrofol ac arsylwadol, a sut y gallwn fesur lluniadau seicolegol megis nodweddion, agweddau ac emosiynau. Bydd myfyrwyr yn derbyn sylfaen gadarn mewn theori ystadegol, ac yn dysgu crynhoi, cyflwyno, dadansoddi a dehongli data. PSA101 Professional Development and Applications of Statistics and Research Methods (Joint Honours)

In this module, students will conduct a research study, which they will report in the form of a scientific paper. In addition, through weekly sessions with their Personal Academic Mentor, students will begin to consider their professional development. In these sessions, students will complete activities that will allow them to pursue the Career Development Course (CDC) provided by the Swansea Employability Academy.

Mae'r modiwl hwn wedi'i gynllunio i ddatblygu dulliau ac ystadegau meintiol ac ansoddol ymhellach i seicolegwyr er mwyn paratoi myfyrwyr ar gyfer eu prosiect ymchwil annibynnol blwyddyn olaf. Caiff myfyrwyr eu cyflwyno i ddefnyddio'r pecyn meddalwedd ystadegol JASP ar gyfer dadansoddiad meintiol a bydd myfyrwyr yn dysgu sut i ddylunio prosiectau bach, cymhwyso profion ystadegol priodol, a dehongli a chyflwyno data.
