About
Ruth joined the School of Law in 2018 as Senior Lecturer and Module Director for Contract Law.
Her early career was spent in commercial management in the IT and healthcare services sectors before commencing her lecturing career at Aberystwyth University, where she taught for many years across the subjects of contract, commercial, company and intellectual property law.
She holds a BA(Hons) in Law and Criminal Justice, an LLM in International Business Law and received a fully funded scholarship to research for her PhD on ‘Computers, Software & Contractual Liability’ which she was awarded from the University of Wales in 2008. Her research has been published in leading contract law and information technology journals, and she is an experienced supervisor and examiner in the fields of contract, commercial and copyright law.
Ruth also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and has been a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2007. She received a Teaching Excellence Award in 2013 and a further Learning and Teaching Online Award in 2015.
She has co-authored the previous two editions of Koffman and Macdonald’s Law of Contract (8th, 2014) and (9th, 2018) with Professor Emeritus Elizabeth Macdonald; she is currently preparing the 10th edition, and very much enjoys teaching Contract Law.
