Non Vaughan Williams is a senior lecturer in the Department of Media and Communication and Director of the Year in Industry degrees. She is also the department’s Employability Officer and the Employability Lead for the School of Culture and Communications.

Non worked as a freelance producer and researcher and subsequently for the BBC before embarking upon an academic career. She continues to produce and present programmes occasionally in order to keep in touch with the industry and promote experiences for students.

She is one of the four members of staff in the department who speak Welsh, and lectures through the medium of Welsh and English.

Teaching Interests

Non has a keen interest in embedding aspects of employability in the curriculum in the form of assessments such as pitch presentations or by seeking work experience opportunities for students. She has established an Industry Panel to inform the provision within the Department of Media and Communication, that has led to excellent employability results.

Non is interested in nurturing students’ creativity and fostering their entrepreneurial skills, two important aspects within the creative industries sector.

As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy she mentors colleagues who seek HEA recognition, and also assesses HEA applications within the university.
