• SHG239 Health Promotion and Public Health

  This module provides an opportunity for any individual with a role in health promotion to develop their knowledge and understanding of this topical subject area. Within the module students will develop an understanding of theories, concepts, principles, complexities, debates and new insights relating to health promotion in public health. Ways in which health related changes can be encouraged and supported will also be incorporated to equip the student for future clinical practice.

• SHG372 Health Promotion and Public Health

  This module provides a sound basis for a greater understanding of health promotion and health education to enable students to utilise health promotion in practice.

• SHHM55 Introduction to Research, Evidence based Practice and Reflection for Physicians Associates

  This module will be a compulsory module within the MSc / Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) Physician¿s Associate Studies and reflects compulsory curriculum content. The module aims to introduce students to the main research paradigms including the principles of research, and the ability to appraise research to provide an evidence base for their personal practice. Students will also be introduced to reflective practice and its value in enabling reflection on clinical learning and the development of clinical competence.

• SHN271 Health Promotion and Public Health (Adult)

  Health promotion and public health are essential components of the nurse‿s role. This module aims to provide students with an understanding of public health development, the nurse‿s role and priorities for action such as inequalities, advocacy and partnership working. Key principles of health promotion and its role within public health will also be explored. The module will also provide students with knowledge of how to promote health within practice across the lifespan in a variety of settings.

• SHN3042 Research and Development in Community Nursing Practice

  This core module builds on students¿ previous knowledge of research and aims to further develop their knowledge and understanding of the research process to include an appreciation of how practice and research are interrelated and its application to community nursing practice. There is an emphasis on 'action learning' approaches - which means that students are encouraged to read, notice and reflect on their practice and knowledge development and share their progress/difficulties in an educative, supportive and challenging arena (with other students, teachers, lecturers and practice teachers).

• SHN3048 Promoting the Public Health of Populations

  The module is designed to develop the knowledge and skills of practitioners in public health practice and primary health care. This will require that practitioners have an understanding of the underpinning concepts and approaches to public health practice and the role of public health in primary health care. Collaborative ways of working between sectors will be explored within the above context in order that students can plan and evaluate strategies for the improvement of health of individuals, groups and local populations. They will develop skills to work with others to plan, implement and evaluate programmes and projects, as well as appraising policies to recommend changes to improve health and well-being. Students have to be placed in concurrent practice for completion of this module.

• SHN3051 Research and Development in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) Practice

  This core module builds on students¿ previous knowledge of research and aims to expand their knowledge and understanding of the research process to include an appreciation of how practice and research are interrelated and its application to community nursing practice. Within this module, students will be prepared to undertake directed independent learning.
