Gemma is a Lecturer in Criminology. She specialises in the development and implementation of digital technologies to support desistance orientated work, offender rehabilitation, youth justice and responsive evaluations.

Gemma's current research focuses on co-producing and implementing a range of digital technologies that help service users and organisations in the criminal justice system to support desistance and other positive outcomes.

Additionally, Gemma’s research has examined the implementation of evidence-based practice across youth justice services in Wales. Her work has been published in the journal of Criminology & Criminal Justice.

Gemma was a participant of the EPSRC funded UK Digital Economy Crucible 2021.  She is an early career research fellow of the international criminal justice voluntary sector research network CRIMVOL and an academic member of Hwb Doeth; a researcher and practitioner group for the Youth Justice Board Cymru.

Gemma is also a member of the European Society of Criminology's Working Group on Community Sanctions and Measures and the Collaboration of Researchers for the Effective Development of Offender Supervision (CREDOS). She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
