Having graduated from Oxford University and King’s College London, Alison sat her Law Society Finals before deciding that legal practice was not for her and embarking instead on a career in academia. She began her academic career in 1994 as a researcher at Cardiff Law School, working on a series of projects with Professors Gillian Douglas, Nigel Lowe and Mervyn Murch. In 1999 she took up a lectureship at Swansea University where she is now an Associate Professor and Head of Department of Law.
