With the future of our planet increasingly uncertain and issues such as microplastics, air pollution and renewable energy dominating the news, many of our student partners, staff, and alumni want to ‘make a difference’ during their time at Swansea University and beyond. One of way of doing this is to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022
The prestigious international table assessed more than 1,400 universities internationally across the breadth of university activity from research stewardship, teaching, sustainability metrics, policies, outreach and partnership work and aims to capture universities’ impact on society. 2022 is the first year that Swansea has been assessed and the University has done extremely well, ranking in the top 200 overall (101-200th) and within the top 20 for three Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) showing our commitment to a sustainable future.
The university was assessed against 11 of the 17 SDGs and achieved the following outcomes:
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being: 66th
- SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation: 34th
- SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy: 63rd
- SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth: 101–200th
- SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: 101–200th
- SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities: 18th
- SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production: 14th
- SDG 13: Climate Action: 41st
- SDG 15: Life on Land: 37th
- SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: 14th
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals: 401-600th
