Swansea University is a research-led institution that thrives on exploration and discovery. We offer a compelling balance of excellent teaching and research, matched by an enviable quality of life on our two beachfront campuses. Having celebrated our centenary year in 2020, we are extremely proud of how our University has contributed to the transformation of Swansea as a city of distinction. With over 20,000 students, we have enjoyed a period of tremendous growth. We are ranked Top University in Wales and a Top 30 UK University in the Guardian University Guide 2023.

The Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 identified 86% of our research as three or four star, with over 90% of our impact being classed as having world-leading or internationally excellent reach and significance. The University has an outstanding track record of collaborating with industry and hosts around 40 companies on its two campuses, including the likes of Tata, Airbus and Pfizer.  The University has ambitions to further develop its research profile through collaboration with our local, international, and industrial partners alongside investing in our research infrastructure and staff.  To enable and support the delivery of these ambitions, Swansea has developed a new senior position, the Chief Research & Enterprise Officer.
